Current test Sentiel-1 agriculture setup service

Currently for testing purposes only, since development is still at the experimental stage.

The present study aims to provide a remote sensing service with weekly/daily updated measurement data, to allow researchers the ability monitor and estimate crop growth parameters, such as leaf area index, water content, fresh biomass, dry biomass and plant height to indicate grain quality. An attractive approach is the remote sensing of the agricultural fields using Sentinel-1.
Sentinel-1 ESA
Sentinel-1 consists of a two-satellite constellation with the primary objectives of surface monitoring. The payload of the Sentinel-1 satellites is a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) in the C band spectrum that provides continuous imagery. Currently, we intend to provide a service to allow researchers the ability to estimate and monitor agricultural crop growth parameters using Single Look Complex (SLC), and Ground Range Detected (GRD) SAR data

Based on current research combining Sentinel-1 data since seeding of the field, we intend to provide a service for researchers in the agricultural domain. The service will allow them the ability to monitor the full crop growth by obtaining the timely information about the crop condition. In this project, it is relevant to have external information about the various growth stages of the broad acre crops for the better understanding the microwave response of growth parameters.

The fieldbabel website will undergo a series of incremental changes over the next several months in an effort to update the current service and improve usability.

Please note that this is a early beta version of the fieldbabel website which is still undergoing testing before its official release. The website, its software and all content found on it are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis
